Managing and Applying Discount Codes in Your Auto Shop

Discount codes can be a powerful tool for customer retention and rewarding loyalty. In garageflo, discounts are created, managed, and seamlessly applied to estimates or invoices. Here’s how the process works from start to finish.

Creating and Managing Discounts

The Discounts Section in the Payments Tab is where you’ll manage all your shop's discounts. Creating a discount is simple:

  1. Navigate to the Discounts Section in the Payments Tab.
  2. Press the Create plus icon.
  3. Enter the discount percentage (e.g., 10%).


This percentage represents the amount deducted from the subtotal of the entire estimate or invoice, providing flexibility to offer discounts based on customer needs or promotional campaigns.

Applying Discounts to Estimates

Discount codes can first be applied by the shop manager during the estimate process. Once a code is entered, the system:

  • Searches for the discount.
  • Calculates the discounted amount based on the subtotal of the estimate.
  • Saves the discount percentage to the estimate, ensuring that any future updates to the job dynamically adjust the discount.

For example:

  • If  parts or services are removed are added, the discount amount is recalculated in real-time based on the saved percentage.
  • This ensures accurate pricing, even if the job’s scope changes.
  • Any discount from the corresponding estimate is automatically transferred and saved to the invoice upon creation.

The applied discount and updated subtotal are immediately visible in the estimate, providing clear transparency for both the manager and the customer.

Applying Discounts to Invoices

Once the invoice is created, customers can also apply a discount code themselves if one hasn’t already been used during the estimate stage. This option is available through the Live Tracking Link, where the customer can:

  1. Enter the discount code.
  2. See the invoice total update dynamically, reflecting the discount.

The system ensures that only one discount can be applied per invoice to avoid overlapping or conflicting discounts. Additionally, the discount percentage is stored on the invoice, maintaining consistency and accountability for any future reference.

Dynamic Updates and Flexibility

A key feature of the platform is its ability to dynamically recalculate discounts:

  • Any changes to services or parts in the job are automatically reflected in the subtotal.
  • The stored discount percentage ensures accurate calculations, eliminating the need for manual adjustments.

This automation saves time and reduces errors, offering a smooth and efficient experience for both managers and customers.

By simplifying the process of creating, managing, and applying discounts, your platform empowers shop managers to offer flexible pricing options while ensuring transparency and accuracy.
